Representative Julie Bunn Receives Health Freedom Fighter Award
Greg Schmidt, MNHLRP President, and Kathryn Berg, MNHLRP Board member present Representative Julie Bunn with the Health Freedom Fighter Award.
Representative Julie Bunn of Lake Elmo (SD56) recently received MNHLRP's Health Freedom Fighter Award.  She received this award for her work in assuring that the citizens of Minnesota are able to access the health care modalities they desire and that natural health practitioners are able to practice their modalities without unnecessary interference by state government.

In particular, she has been a supporter of MN Statute 214, which establishes criteria for determining whether a currently unregulated modality must be licensed.  Specifically, MN Statute 214 states that in determining "whether the unregulated practice of an occupation may harm or endanger the health, safety and welfare of citizens of the state and whether the potential for harm is recognizable and not remote...."  For further information, please go to

"Her insistence that groups seeking licensure follow the procedures established in Statute 214 is very important to the citizens of Minnesota," said Kathryn Berg, MNHLRP Board Member.  "Increasing regulation unneccessarily will only increase costs of health care and decrease access.  Minnesota can't afford that, especially at this time when we are seeking to decrease the cost of health care and increase access."
